FlagMyListing ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website (flagmylisting.com).

Information We Collect

• Listing text you paste: When you use our Scam Checker tool, the listing text you paste is analyzed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, store, or log the text you paste. All analysis happens client-side using JavaScript.
• Listing URLs you submit: When you submit a listing link, our server temporarily retrieves that public page so its contents can be read and analyzed. For sites that block automated access, the public URL may instead be passed to a third-party service that retrieves the page on our behalf: the Jina AI Reader (r.jina.ai), and, if no live copy can be read, the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine lookup (archive.org). These services receive the listing URL, not your IP address or anything else about you, and their own privacy policies apply to it. We do not retain the URL or the fetched listing content after the request completes. The URL is sent to our server in the body of the request rather than in the address, so our hosting provider's standard request logs record the time, response status, and IP address of the request, but not the listing URL or content.
• Email address: If you voluntarily subscribe to our email alerts, we collect your email address. We use this solely to send rental scam alerts and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Analytics data: We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records only aggregated usage (such as page views, referral source, and device type) and never the listing text or URLs you check. This data does not identify you personally.
• Cookies: Our analytics are cookieless. The only cookies are those Google may set if Google AdSense code loads on the page (see below). Your cookie-banner choice is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings.

How We Use Information

• To provide rental scam detection analysis (processed client-side only)
• To send email alerts if you have subscribed
• To improve our scam detection patterns and website
• To display advertising through Google AdSense, once ads are live (see below)

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect or store the listing text you paste into our tool
• We do not collect passwords, financial information, or Social Security numbers
• We do not track your browsing activity outside our website
• We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed on this page
• We do not access any data on non-rental websites

Google AdSense & Cookies

We have applied to show advertising through Google AdSense. While that application is under review, the AdSense code may load on our pages but no ads are shown. Once ads are live, Google AdSense uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your browsing patterns.

The cookie banner on this site controls how ads are requested: if you decline, ads are requested in non-personalised mode. You may additionally opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Commercial Relationships

FlagMyListing does not participate in any affiliate program and does not earn commission on outbound links. The site is funded by display advertising and by one paid product, the Deposit Recovery Kit. Where we link to an external service or resource, no payment or referral arrangement is involved.

Some pages link to third-party websites, including government reporting portals and consumer protection services. Once you leave our site, the privacy policy of the respective website applies to your data.

• Jina AI Reader: Retrieves public listing pages that block our server, receiving only the listing URL. See Jina AI's legal page.
• Internet Archive: Used as a last resort to find an archived copy of a listing page, receiving only the listing URL. See the Internet Archive's terms.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics: Provides cookieless, aggregate traffic measurement. It does not use cookies or fingerprinting and does not track individuals across sites. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

How We Handle Listing Data

When you paste listing text directly into our Scam Checker, all analysis is performed client-side in your browser using JavaScript. The text is never sent to our servers or any third party.

When you submit a listing URL, our server fetches the page content to extract listing details for analysis. This data is processed in memory only and is not stored or retained after the request completes, and our own logs do not record it. We do not build any database of checked listings or URLs.

Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption for all website traffic. We do not maintain databases of user-submitted listing text or URLs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may retain standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, and the page or endpoint requested) as part of normal operations. Listing URLs you check are not part of those logs.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Request access to any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your personal data
• Opt out of personalized advertising
• Unsubscribe from email communications at any time

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
